Job Summary:
You will be responsible for providing direct psychiatric care within BasePoint’s PHP/IOP programs. The NP collaborates closely with the Director of Medical Services, Medical Director and Supervising Physician to conduct evaluations, manage medications, and support high-quality mental health care. The role requires clinical leadership, documentation, flexibility and patient/family engagement in line with BasePoint’s mission and standards. Nurse Practitioners are expected to support all BasePoint locations, both in person and virtually, as needed to ensure continuity of care and uphold the integrity of services across sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations within 48 hours of admission, in collaboration with support staff and under physician supervision.
- Develop and manage individualized care plans with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Prescribe and manage medications within scope and in accordance with the Prescriptive Authority QA Plan.
- Participate in monthly supervision meetings and maintain logs of reviewed charts and consultations.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies and collaborate with the treatment team to support crisis resolution.
- Attend and participate in weekly care coordination meetings and treatment planning sessions.
- Coordinate care with therapists, medical staff, support staff, and external providers or family members.
- Document patient encounters to support medical necessity and PHP/IOP level of care billing requirements.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and preventive care.
- Utilize evidence-based practice to guide clinical decisions and adapt care as needed.
- Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and support quality and safety goals.
- Participate in the development and revision of clinical policies, protocols, and standards.
- Serve as a clinical resource, consultant, and advocate for patients and staff.
- Stay current on psychiatric best practices and maintain ongoing professional development.
- Flexibility to work in multiple locations, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Master of Science in Nursing with Psychiatric/Mental Health focus from an accredited university.
- Required: Minimum 2 years of outpatient mental health experience preferred.
- Current PMHNP license and DEA license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing and DEA respectively.
