This role ensures every project is completed the Basements Plus Way—through disciplined planning, clear communication, hands-on coaching, and expert craftsmanship. The Lead Carpenter sets the tone for workmanship, professionalism, and a zero-punch-list standard from start to finish.Essential Job Functions:Leadership & Team Development Lead daily jobsite huddles with clear daily/weekly goals.Train, coach, and mentor Journeyman and Apprentice Carpenters to improve skill, efficiency, and team performance.Project Management Ensure work meets all building codes and Basements Plus standards.Maintain ownership of jobsite safety, organization, cleanliness, and quality.Communicate proactively with the Project Manager to keep timelines aligned.Update project management software daily with photos, notes, and any issues.Interact with homeowners with a solution-focused, professional approach.Uphold a zero-punch-list mentality.Verify readiness for homeowner orientation and final walkthrough.Technical Carpentry Skills Deliver high-end finishes with tight miters, clean reveals, precise joinery, and exceptional craftsmanship.Execute advanced trim details (coffered ceilings, crown, beams, wall paneling).Fabricate custom features (built-ins, cabinetry, mantles, hidden doors).Build and install stair and railing systems.Install cabinets, modify cabinetry, and complete complex molding layouts.Install advanced door systems (pocket, French, specialty hardware).Complete framing modifications per design and code requirements.Position Requirements:5 years of residential finish carpentry experience.Proficiency in complex, high-end carpentry work.Strong ability to read plans, interpret scope, and execute work independently.Leadership experience supervising and mentoring field teams.Clear and professional communication with team members and homeowners.High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities.Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, insurance, and a cell phone.Must supply own carpentry tools.Ability to pass a background check and physical.Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs.Vision, Mission & Core Values:Demonstrates Basements Plus’ vision, mission, and core values.Ensures the team delivers a remarkable experience for homeowners.Celebrates wins and contributes to a positive team culture.Direct Reports:Apprentice CarpentersJourneyman CarpentersReports To:Project ManagerAlternate Titles:Finish Carpenter LeadResidential Carpentry LeadTrim Carpenter LeadSenior CarpenterCarpenter ForemanKeywords: Lead Carpenter, Finish Carpenter, Residential Carpentry, Trim Carpentry, Basement Remodeling, Remodeling Carpenter, Carpentry Foreman, Journeyman Carpenter, High-End Carpentry, Construction Lead, Custom Carpentry, Interior Finish WorkWe are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
