What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Line Operator position at Bascom Maple Farms Inc?
The Production Operator operates a syrup canning line. This position is responsible for the daily operation and management of manual room canning activities under the management of the Production Manager.
Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Setup for production runs and changeovers.
- Operate filling stations during production runs.
- Monitor all phases of production to ensure smooth operation and all procedures are followed.
- Perform all quality checks and verification tasks in compliance with established procedures.
- Inspect materials, products, and equipment to detect defects and malfunctions.
- Perform the cleaning and sanitation of production equipment and production area and complete applicable logs/documentation.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of all production in compliance with established procedures.
- Communicate with Production Manager to plan staff assignments, material needs, and production run schedules to meet deadlines.
- Assist Maintenance with equipment troubleshooting and routine maintenance.
- Assist in performing periodic inventory counts of products.
- Report any quality or safety concerns to the Production Manager immediately.
- Other tasks as requested.
Minimum Requirements
- 2 years’ experience in a production environment
- Basic math-counting, addition, subtraction
- Reading and writing ability
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Consistent attendance history
- Basic mechanical skills
- Ability to become pallet jack certified
- Work well independently and with others
Essential Physical & Mental Functions
Employees in this position must be a team player with the ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced production environment. The Line Leader must be able to communicate effectively and give clear instruction. The employee must be able to quickly identify potential product quality issues and show attention to detail while performing repetitive production tasks. The Line Leader must have the ability to anticipate potential issues and adapt accordingly.
This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping during the shift duration. Fine motor skills and the ability to perform repetitive tasks is required. The employee must regularly lift/move items weighing up to 60 pounds.
Other Position Information
- This position requires consistent attendance and punctuality due to the nature of work performed. Shift schedule is generally inflexible except when dictated by workflow and production needs by the Production Manager.
