Associate Mechanical Engineers

We are seeking talented and motivated Associate Mechanical Engineers to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the design and testing of electromechanical systems that are included in our Vapor Cycle Systems for defense applications. These systems range from compressors, pumps, fans, motor drives and electronic control units. This is an exciting opportunity for a early-career professional looking to launch their career in the defense industry with a focus on thermal management systems and components.
Bascom Hunter provides solutions to the Department of Defense (DoD) and Aerospace markets across various disciplines. Our Xcelaero division currently provides products and services that focus on Vapor Cycle Systems and associated subassemblies such as fans, electronic valves, motors, electronic control units and motor drives.
Responsibilities:
- Design and Modeling: Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and drawings using SolidWorks for mechanical components and systems.
- Prototyping and Testing: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to prototype and validate designs through rigorous testing and iterative improvements.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, design changes, and reports, ensuring compliance with industry and company standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, systems, and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs into broader systems.
- Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to applicable defense industry regulations, standards, and customer specifications.
- Innovation: Contribute to the development of innovative solutions to meet challenging design requirements and improve existing products.
- Project Management: Manage timelines and resources effectively to meet project milestones and deliverables.
- (Occasional) Analysis and Simulation: Perform FEA, CFD, and other simulations to ensure designs meet structural, thermal, and operational requirements.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience:
- 0-5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a strong focus on SolidWorks.
- Experience in the defense industry or a related high-precision, regulated field is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in SolidWorks
- Proficient with SolidWorks PDM
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Understanding of materials science and manufacturing processes
- [Preferred] Experience with military standards (MIL-STD) and defense contracting requirements.

- Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
