Mechanical CAD Designer – Entry Level

Position located in Baton Rouge, LA

Bascom Hunter designs, develops, and manufacturers environmental control systems and components for the aerospace and defense industry. We are experiencing rapid growth and are looking to add to our dynamic team. The Mechanical Designer role is an exciting opportunity for someone who is creative with a mechanical acumen that wants to learn and grow in their career. This role supports product design, development, manufacturing, and research and development.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

• Supporting the wider Engineering team by preparing high-quality drawings and bill of materials using CAD software
• Utilizing your skills to provide solutions to a variety of technical inquiries
• Delivering all drawings according to an agreed-upon timeline, cost estimate and all relevant quality standards
• Ensuring accurate application and implementation of standard processes and tools in the preparation of accurate drawings
• Other duties as assigned by engineering manager

 Required Job Skills:

• Experience designing / drafting mechanical components and assemblies in CAD is preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret detailed customer drawings
• An understanding of common manufacturing and joining processes for metal, plastic, and composite parts is a plus.
• An understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing along with ASME Y14.5 (2009 or newer)
• An understanding of CAD software is preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Able to work with minimal supervision
• Preference for candidates with Solidworks experience
• Preference for candidate with working knowledge of aerospace specifications and standards
• On the job training will be provided
• Position is 100% onsite.
• U.S. citizenship required
