Accounting Internship (Accounts Payable)

We are on the lookout for a bright, motivated Accounting Intern in Accounts Payable to join our team in our Syracuse, NY office working 10-20 hours per week. This internship could begin as early as this Fall 2025 and continue through next Spring 2026.

Duties Will Include

• Assisting with invoice processing, verification, and entry into the accounting system;
• Reviewing supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance with company policies;
• Supporting vendor management by helping resolve invoice discrepancies and inquiries;
• Assisting in preparing payment runs and ensuring timely vendor payments;
• Helping maintain accurate AP records and filing systems (electronic and/or paper);
• Processing employee reimbursement requests, including verifying receipts, ensuring compliance with company travel & expense policies, and preparing reimbursements for payment;
• Responding to employee inquiries regarding reimbursement status and policy compliance;
• Comparing vendor invoices to subagreements to ensure billing accuracy and contract compliance;
• Reviewing vendor Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for compliance with company requirements;
• Maintaining & updating our Certificate of Insurance software;
• Assisting with month-end close activities, including accruals and reconciliations as needed;
• And supporting special projects and process improvement initiatives within Accounting & Finance.
  
  

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Availability on Friday is required.
• Interest in building a career in accounting or finance.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  
  

Estimated Pay Range: $20-22/hour.

Actual compensation may vary based on related work experience, geographical location and market conditions, education/training, certifications, and other credentials, as well as applicable knowledge and skills.
