What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Interior Designer position at Barton + Barton Interiors?
Full-Service Residential Design & Construction Company
Del Mar, California | On-Site Full-Time
This role requires a minimum of 7 years of hands-on residential interior design experience. Please do not apply if your background is primarily real estate, staging, or commercial design
ABOUT US
We are a full-service interior design studio based in Del Mar, California, specializing in new
construction and full-scope renovation projects for luxury residential homes. We work across a wide
range of client styles and take pride in creating spaces that are as functional as they are beautiful.
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Designer who is ready to show up, contribute
meaningfully and help us raise the bar on everything we do.
THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a senior-level design position for someone who thrives with minimal guidance, has built
strong expertise and seeks a studio where their work is highly impactful. You will own projects from
concept through installation, collaborate closely with our team and trades and be a primary point of
contact for clients. You bring the experience — we bring the projects, the culture and the room to
grow.
WHO YOU ARE
We can teach software and processes. What we cannot teach is the judgment, presence and work
ethic that makes a great designer. The right person for this role:
- Reads a room quickly — you pick up on what a client needs, what a project requires and what
the team is working through, often before anyone says a word
- Thinks ahead and acts on it — you notice what needs to happen next and take care of it
without being asked
- Communicates clearly and professionally — your emails, your meeting notes and your
conversations with clients and trades positively reflects our studio.
- Keeps things moving — you manage your time well, juggle competing priorities without drama
and follow through on what you say you will do
- Sharp attention to detail — you catch things others miss and you care about getting it right,
whether it is a spec sheet, a material selection or a site visit
- Brings good energy — you are collaborative, easy to be around and the kind of person who
makes the team better
- Takes ownership — when something is yours, you see it through; when something goes
sideways, you solve it
