We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced MEP Mechanical Engineer to join our team, responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing the installation and maintenance of mechanical systems within various construction projects.
About the Role
The MEP Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet project requirements and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical systems such as HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Conduct feasibility studies, perform load calculations, and select appropriate equipment for these systems.
- Prepare and review technical drawings and specifications, including detailed blueprints and layouts for mechanical systems.
- Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, plumbing engineers, and construction teams to integrate mechanical systems into overall building designs and resolve potential conflicts.
- Conduct site evaluations and inspections to assess existing conditions, monitor construction progress, and ensure adherence to design specifications and safety regulations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during the design, installation, or maintenance phases of MEP systems.
- Assist in the preparation of project schedules and budgets, ensuring cost-effective design solutions and adherence to project timelines.
- Stay updated on industry advancements, codes, and regulations related to mechanical engineering and building systems, ensuring designs meet or exceed applicable standards.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by analyzing existing workflows, suggesting innovative solutions, and implementing best practices in MEP design and coordination.
- Support construction administration activities, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs (requests for information), and guiding contractors during installation.
- Participate in commissioning and handover processes, verifying that mechanical systems are installed correctly, function as intended, and meet the owner's project requirements.
- Provide ongoing maintenance and support for MEP systems over the lifetime of the building.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the MEP industry, with a focus on mechanical system design.
- 8 years of experience may qualify you as a Senior Mechanical Engineer.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant BIM tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address complex engineering challenges.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, architects, and other stakeholders.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, standards and safety regulations.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate work.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
