Groundskeeper @ Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course

Position Overview:

The Groundskeeper will be responsible for performing routine labor involved in golf course maintenance and Morton Golf properties maintenance. The groundskeeper’s responsibilities include doing semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operating small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally performing work involving large equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Set tee markers and cups on greens daily; maintain ball washers; replace tee towels and flags when needed; remove debris; sand and seed tee and drop area divots; and clean flower beds.
• May be asked to operate mowers and string trimmers for trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks, and hillsides; edge cart paths; maintain sand bunkers.
• Maintain fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment, report equipment problems or failure to the equipment mechanic immediately.
• Return all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and clean the maintenance areas.
• Water and fertilize tees, greens and fairways, and under direct supervision of a certified applicator, spray chemicals on landscaped areas.
• Help in project work; assist in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens and fairways.
• Install forms and lay walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems.
• Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.

Qualifications:

Experience:

o Must have some landscaping or golf course maintenance experience.

Education:

o High School Graduate recommended but not required.

Specialized knowledge:

o Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.

o Must be able to lift 50 pounds.

• Flexibility to work outside exposed to weather conditions.
• Flexibility to work M – F weekends as needed.
