What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scorekeeper position at BARTLETT PARK DISTRICT APPLE ORCHARD GOLF COURSE?
Job Summary:
The Scorekeeper will be responsible to run the scoreboard and/or keep the scorebook at either youth or adult basketball games at the Bartlett Community Center. The Scorekeeper must be able to communicate with coaches, players, spectators and officials to ensure the game is played according to the rules and good sportsmanship is exhibited. This is an at-will position. Other duties and responsibilities include:
- Gain knowledge and understanding of Park District policies and procedures and see that they are adhered to at all times.
- Attend district-wide part-time staff orientations, crisis trainings and office staff trainings as directed.
- Comply with the District’s Dress Code by coming to work in clean, presentable clothing and wearing an employee name tag.
- Responsible for checking the gym conditions to ensure it is safe to play in.
- Manage the gym, during games, handling problems with coaches, teams, players, parents, and officials, following the rules and regulations set by the Park District.
- Keep the score book for the games and league current, entering any new information given by the Recreation Manager.
- Understand the league specific rules and help to enforce them with the coaches and officials.
- Interact with people in a professional and friendly manner.
- Answer all questions to the best of your knowledge. If you do not know the answer, direct them to contact the Recreation Manager at the Park District; or take their name and number, come ask the Manager, and report back to the individual with the answer.
- Upon leaving, clean up and put away all equipment, including basketballs, scoreboards, and scorebook, ensure gym is clean, lights are turned off, and outer doors are locked.
- Observe and follow all Park District safety policies and regulations. The safety of staff and participants is a continuing responsibility of all employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be 16 years of age or older. Should have knowledge and experience in basketball and know the rules.
Schedule & Pay:
This is a part-time, hourly position. Hours will vary. Hiring range is between $15.00 - $16.00/hour, DOQ.
