Position Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Paraeducator to support students with specialized needs in a classroom setting. This role involves assisting with instruction, behavior support, personal care, and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and committed to fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support instructional activities under the direction of a certificated teacher
- Adapt classroom materials and assignments to meet student needs
- Assist students with academic tasks, social skills, and daily living activities
- Implement behavior plans and provide emotional support
- Administer first aid and medical assistance as directed (e.g., diapering, tube feeding, EpiPen)
- Monitor student behavior during classroom and non-classroom times
- Maintain student safety across various school environments
- Communicate observations and progress to instructional and support staff
- Attend IEP meetings as requested
- Maintain accurate records and adhere to safety protocols
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Experience working with children with disabilities preferred
- Ability to follow multi-step instructions and adapt to changing needs
- Knowledge of child development, behavior management, and instructional practices
- Ability to operate standard office and medical equipment
- Strong communication, teamwork, and record-keeping skills
- Must meet district requirements for background checks and health screenings
