What are the responsibilities and job description for the Central Scheduler - Full time position at Barstow Community Hospital?
Under the direction of the Business Office Manager and Patient Registration supervisor, responsible for the courteous, accurate and timely scheduling of patient procedures in the hospital. Responsible for the efficient and smooth flow of the patient scheduling process. Will promptly recognize and greet patients and visitors. Responsible for verification, precertification's, and obtaining coverage on all applicable procedures requiring certification, all other insurance or non-insurance categories requiring fax, telephone, or written approval. Included in this are contracted accounts, non-contract insurance accounts and MediCal accounts and utilization referrals.
Education: High School Diploma, or GED
Experience: One year Hospital registration experience and/or scheduling required. Computer keyboard experience required. Type 35 WPM. Bilingual preferred. Knowledge of various health insurance including government, HMO's and PPO's. Familiar and knowledgeable in the use of basic office equipment. For precertifications/authorization, must have Excel and Microsoft Word experience. Must be organized and have the ability to work in a high activity busy environment.
Wage range: $23.00/hr - $28.00/hr
