What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tennis Coach position at Barrington Park District?
HOURS: Thursday, 5:00pm – 6:00pm ; Saturday, 10:00am – 11:00am
POSITION SUMMARY: The Tennis Coach position is a part-time, seasonal position. The Tennis Coach is responsible for instructing all youth tennis classes. The Tennis Coach will determine the class curriculum and monitor the safety of all participants. This person will be responsible for contacting the proper personnel in case of emergencies.
SUPERVISION: The Facility Attendant has no employee supervisory responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Instruct all tennis class participants
- Coordinate with other Tennis Coaches, and Athletic Supervisor, on class curriculum
- Supervise participants while protecting their physical health
- Maintains and implements safety standards and procedures at all times to ensure a well-rounded program in a safe, positive environment.
- Will attend all scheduled trainings and meetings as deemed necessary by the Athletic Supervisor. (Failure to attend meetings could result in loss of position.)
- Maintain close communications with Athletic Supervisor
- Any and all duties deemed necessary by the Recreation office
SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT: - Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices
- Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual and Crisis Management Plan
- Attend professional educational and safety trainings
- Assist with emergency procedures and building evaluation
- Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks
- Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor
- Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor
- Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisor
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age or older
- Current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification, preferred, or ability to obtain within 3 months. Park District will train
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Regularly required to talk, hear or read
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl - Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; and over 50 pounds with assistance
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS: - May work under deadlines and under stressful situations
- May work unsupervised and must seek out supervision when necessary
PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS: - May be exposed to chemicals including but not limited to fertilizers, cleaning materials and pool chemicals
ENVIROMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS: - May be exposed to all weather conditions including but not limited to extreme heat, cold, snow, ice, wind and noise
- Required to work on all types of uneven surfaces including but not limited to mud, snow and ice
- Protective clothing and equipment is required for conditions stated above
COGNITIVE RESPONSIBILITIES: - Employee must exhibit good safety awareness and judgment
- Employee must exhibit cooperative and receptive personality traits, especially when dealing with the public.
Salary : $15 - $21
