ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Takes direction from the Site and Assistant Site Coordinators
- Assists in the creation, organization, promotion and implementation of a wide variety of recreational activities such as: arts and crafts, sports and games, music, nature study, special events and social activities
- Attends all staff and program meetings
- Reports any “incidents” immediately to the Site Coordinator
- Maintains good relations with all School District personnel
- Arrives on time and is prepared for the day’s activities
- Reports absence from work in a timely manner
- Is willing to work any “Day Off” trip when available
- Shows interest and enthusiasm for all planned activities
- Is sensitive to the individual needs of the participants.
- Maintains discipline of group
- Helps with housekeeping duties related to program operation and as assigned
JOB TITLE: K.E.E.P. AFTER SCHOOL Counselor
CLASSIFICATION: PART-TIME, NON-EXEMPT
PAY RATE: $16.00 - $18.00/ HOUR
SUPERVISOR: K.E.E.P. SITE SUPERVISOR
HOURS: MON, TUES, THURS, FRI 2:15PM – 6:00PM AND WED 1:45 – 6:00PM
Schedules follow the Barrington School District 220 calendar (August – June).
EMPLOYMENT GRADE: 3 OR 4 BASED ON HOURS
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the K.E.E.P Site Coordinator, the staff support is responsible for creating, organizing and displaying personal leadership in a wide variety of recreational activities.
EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma is preferred
- Thorough knowledge of the specific activity preferred
- Ability to teach in any given class situation
- Must possess current First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
SAFETY AND RISK MANAGEMENT:
- Uphold safety and risk management strategies in support of and compliance with Park District policies, procedures, ordinances and practices
- Familiarity with and effective implementation of the Employee Safety Manual, Emergency Response Plan, and Crisis Management Plan
- Must attend professional educational and safety trainings
- Assist with emergency procedures and building evacuation.
Utilize Personal Protective Equipment when performing duties, based on job tasks
- Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to supervisor
- Promptly report hazardous conditions, accidents and injuries to supervisor
- Complete incident/accident report forms and promptly forwards them to supervisor
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Regularly required to talk, hear or read
- Frequently required to stand; walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl
- Occasionally lift, move and/or pull up to 30 pounds; and over 30 pounds with assistance
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception
