This role monitors, controls, and reports the financial performance of mining projects, ensuring delivery within budget through accurate cost estimates, forecasts, and analyses. Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update project budgets, forecasts, and cost control plans in alignment with project scope and schedule.
- Monitor project costs, track variances, and provide detailed financial reporting and analysis.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, procurement, and finance teams to ensure timely collection and validation of cost data.
- Perform cost risk analysis, trend forecasting, and scenario modeling to support project decisions.
- Review and approve contractor invoices, change orders, and other project-related expenditures.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc management reports for senior leadership.
- Ensure compliance with company financial policies, procedures, and reporting standards.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, process improvements, and efficiency enhancements.
- Assist in audits and financial reviews related to project costs.
- Other duties as required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field required
- 5–10 years of experience in project controls, cost control, or financial management within the mining or heavy industrial sectors preferred
- Strong understanding of mining project cost structures, budgeting, and financial reporting required
- Proficiency in project controls software (e.g., SAP, Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent) required
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with multidisciplinary teams required
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment preferred
