Carlin - Open Pit Mine Engineer I/II

Our people division is growing, and we are looking for an Open Pit Engineer I at our Carlin operation. The successful candidate is responsible for Develop and communicate engineering plans, sequences, dumping priorities, etc. to operations and other stakeholders on site and ensure plans are carried out safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• The assignment of duties in short-range planning, long-range planning, dump planning, road design, dispatch engineering and/or other engineering projects as required within the Cortez Engineering group
• Develop and communicate engineering plans, sequences, dumping priorities, etc. to operations and other stakeholders on site and ensure plans are carried out safely and efficiently
• Assist in end of month reporting for leach pad deliveries as well as other necessary regulatory reporting
• Work closely with the mine operations team to execute on designs and plans safely and efficiently
• Other duties as assigned
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering or related field or equivalent experience required
• One (1) to eight (8) years’ experience in open pit engineering preferred
• Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
• Team leadership, problem solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods of time required
• Ability to cross-train within the mining engineering group required
• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required
