Job Summary
The Mining Engineer Internship at Barrett Paving Materials Inc. provides students with hands-on exposure to quarry operations, mine planning, and aggregate processing. Interns will gain practical experience while contributing to meaningful projects that support operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability.
Main Responsibilities
- Spend significant time at aggregate facilities to understand mining operations, equipment, and material processing.
- Complete a defined project that supports business needs and develops technical/analytical skills.
- Work with geologists and operations teams on mine planning, production tracking, and quality initiatives.
- Compile and analyze production data, prepare reports, and assist in problem-solving.
- Handle sensitive information with integrity and maintain a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills (basic math and data analysis).
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and willingness to learn industry software (AutoCAD, mine planning tools, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and eager to learn.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
