What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper position at Barre City Elementary and Middle School?
Barre City Elementary and Middle School is seeking a 1st Shift Groundskeeper to maintain the school grounds throughout the year. The groundskeeper maintains sports field and equipment, performs maintenance to grounds equipment, and performs maintenance related work within the school facility.
Primary responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Mowing of grass, grass and shrub trimming, pruning, and raking of grass and leaves
- Picking up of outdoor trash daily
- Sweeping or shoveling of entranceways and sidewalks as needed
- Maintaining sports field mowing, seeding, fertilizing
- Perform maintenance of grounds care equipment
- Assist with/accomplishes renovation projects
- Operate school vehicles when needed
- Complete general cleaning and painting projects as required
When outside work is done or not possible due to weather extremes, or when required by building workload, this position will accomplish utility and/or custodial related work.
The rate of pay for this position is $20.99 per hour. Benefits include health and dental insurance, retirement, paid sick, vacation and personal leave.

Valid driver's license with good driving record is required. Previous experience with groundskeeping or related work helpful.
