Barr is seeking a senior water resources engineer to join our Bismarck team. In this hybrid role, you will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing project and/or task management and technical support for the Water Resources group. Assignments may include hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, GIS, and CADD work.

Your Impact – Key Responsibilities
- Hydraulic and hydrologic analysis: hydrologic analysis related to stormwater planning and flood control and hydraulic analysis and design related to storm sewer infrastructure, rivers, streams, conveyances, dams, and other hydraulic structures.
- Reporting: assist with the preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications, and work with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials.
- Project and task management: assist with planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to project managers and clients.
- Hybrid: a hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr’s Bismarck, North Dakota, office.
- Work environment: ability to work in an office environment. Candidates must be able to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Education: bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering with emphasis on water resources.
- Experience: 10 years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, or water quality.
- Experience with project management.
- Experience with proposals, business development and client management.
- Licenses/certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Software: knowledge of commonly used hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, 1D and 2D hydraulic modeling software, GIS, and CADD software.
- Communication: strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, regulators, and clients.
- Driver’s license: possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.
- Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering with a focus on hydrology and/or hydraulics.
- Experience with water quality modeling and analysis.
- Experience with site development design, plans, and/or specifications.
- Construction observation, fieldwork, and surveying experience.
