Position Summary
We are seeking a Developmental Specialist with experience in case management, direct care, and skill-building programs. This role combines consumer assessment, program implementation, and behavioral support to promote independence and improve quality of life for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Implementation
- Assess consumer skills and develop individualized skill-building plans.
- Implement and supervise programs per DHSP/IP plans.
- Create teaching materials and strategies for skill development.
- Collaborate with consultants, interdisciplinary teams (IDT), and other professionals.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and personal care, lifting up to 60 lbs, and providing mobility support.
Case Management & Documentation
- Serve as Case Manager for assigned consumers.
- Utilize electronic record software and proficient with computers
- Maintain accurate Permanent Records and Work Files.
- Participate in IDT meetings, case reviews, and plan updates.
- Complete all documentation and reporting accurately and on time.
Behavioral & Direct Support
- Implement behavior modification plans and collect behavioral data.
- Intervene in medical and behavioral emergencies, including restraints.
- Ensure consumer safety, rights, and compliance with human services regulations.
Community Integration
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise volunteer and community outings, as needed and applicable.
- Transport consumers using company vehicles. (CT Only)
Professional & Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain professional appearance, punctuality, and attendance.
- Follow all company policies, OSHA, and safety procedures.
- Work collaboratively with team members, consumers, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in case management, direct care, or human services.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple individuals in classroom or community settings.
- Physical ability to support ADLs, transfers, and emergency interventions.
