We are looking to hire a kennel tech for our facility. Kennel Techs are responsible for executing daily operations and keeping team members accountable to the Barnwell Oaks Kennel standard. The ideal candidate understands the balance between leadership and teamwork- ensuring tasks are completed efficiently while maintaining a positive and supportive work environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, attention to detail and a passion for animal care. You MUST have animal care to be considered for this position.
About Us: At Barnwell Oaks Kennels we are dedicated to providing exceptional care for pets in a safe, clean, and loving environment. Our team is passionate about animal welfare and ensuring every pet feels at home while they are here with us. We are a boarding and daycare facility that takes in dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, lizards, and other exotics. We also have our own groomer on site. Our main priority is making sure the animals are taken care of properly, safely, efficiently and respectfully to the owner's wishes.
Duties:
- Daily care of feeding and medicating dogs, cats, and small exotic animals.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels/condos, play yards, and facility.
- Ensure all necessary animals receive their playtimes or woodland walks.
- Provide basic grooming for dogs - baths, nail trims, and ear cleanings.
- Retrieve pets from owners as they drop off.
- Enforce safety protocols to keep everyone safe
- Make sure dogs stay clean during the stay and make sure they are clean when being picked up.
- Make sure the pet's personal belongings are all accounted for
- Supporting your manager in following through with concerns with the pets or team members.
- Monitor animal health and behavior, reporting concerns to management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kennel, veterinary clinic or animal care is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Physical stamina to handle dogs of various sizes and energy levels.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. We are open 9-6 Mon-Friday. Saturday we are open 8-5. Sunday we are open from 4-6 but working hours are 9-6.
