POSITION: Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology
- Massachusetts DESE license in School Social Worker/School Adjustment Counselor, All Levels.
- Experience with positive behavior supports, pro-social skills development and parent training.
- Minimum three years experience working in schools.
REPORTS TO: Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide direct service and consultation for students.
- Use a significant portion of each day in direct contact with students for counseling, planning or decision making.
- Provide classroom and small group instruction.
- Provide crisis counseling and referral when necessary to outside agencies.
- Mediate with students and staff to resolve conflicts that interfere with the learning process.
- Provide consultation to staff regarding student difficulty in the classroom and assistance in developing positive behavior intervention and support plans.
- Serve as a resource person to staff to provide information about behavioral, social, emotional matters which may have significance for student’s program.
- Implement parent training workshops.
- Collaborate with school counselors, school psychologists, teachers, administrators and parents.
- All other duties assigned by the supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Per BTA Contract
