This Position is split as .5 FTE 504 Coordinator/ .5 FTE Guidance Counselor
Position: 504 Plan Coordinator at Barnsatble High school.
Job Goal: Follow all federal, state, and district guidelines to ensure eligible BHS students with disabilities receive the services they are entitled to under Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master's Degree from an accredited College or University.
- Massachusetts DESE licensure valid for School Counselor, Social Worker, or School Psychologist.
- Three years of counseling, assessing, programing, or related experience working with students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations and guidelines related to 504 Plans and special education.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal, nonverbal, written).
Reports To and Evaluated By: Building Principal or designee
POSITION: School Counselor
JOB GOAL: To support the development of the whole child by providing academic, social/emotional and career education to meet the diverse needs of all students; and to collaborate with parents, teachers, staff, and the community to ensure all students are college and career ready.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree with a major in counseling.
- Massachusetts license as a school guidance counselor.
- Education and experience in ASCA national standards and state requirements.
REPORTS TO: Principal
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, organizes, and delivers the school counseling curriculum.
- Implements tiered interventions.
- Monitors student progress on a regular basis.
- Collaborates with stakeholders (parents, staff, community) to support students’ school success and provide responsive services.
- Collects and analyzes student data to provide individual and system support. Shares results as appropriate.
- Communicates effectively with the principal, school staff, and parents.
- Demonstrates cultural proficiency, sensitivity to differences in abilities, and social backgrounds, especially when working with students with diverse backgrounds.
- Develops and implements educational interventions that are effective in meeting the needs of a diverse student body.
- Develops, implements, and monitors progress of individual, small, and group counseling interventions and services.
- May hold team meeting leader responsibilities.
- Fulfills all professional responsibilities.
- May provide IEP and 504 social, emotional, behavioral, and counseling services.
- Any other assigned duties by the Principal.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Typical office conditions; siting, bending, stooping, filing, occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds of office supplies/files. Close vision at or correctable to normal range.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Per BTA contract
SALARY: Per BTA contract.
