What are the responsibilities and job description for the R 3165 District Technology Support Associate position at Barnstable Public Schools?
JOB GOAL:
The Technology Support Associate provides front-line, customer-focused technology support to staff and students across the district. This role serves as the first point of contact for technology assistance and focuses on resolving common, well-documented, and routine technology issues, supporting users in their day-to-day use of district systems, and ensuring a positive support experience. Issues requiring system-level access, configuration changes, or advanced troubleshooting are escalated to senior technical staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma required; associate’s degree, college coursework, or relevant experience, preferred
2. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
3. Ability to communicate clearly and patiently with non-technical users
4. Comfort learning and using new technology systems and tools
5. Basic familiarity with Windows, Apple, Chromebooks, and/or Google Workspace preferred but not required
6. Ability to follow procedures, document work, and manage multiple tasks
7. Willingness to learn and grow technical skills on the job
8. High degree of professionalism, discretion, and attention to security, privacy, and data integrity
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Serve as the first point of contact for technology support requests
2. Resolve common, repeatable, and documented issues related to devices, accounts, peripherals, and classroom technology
3. Provide in-person and remote assistance following established procedures and documentation
4. Document all work in the district’s ticketing and asset management systems, logging technical requests, solutions, and account for time and resolution of work
5. Assist with device deployment, collection, basic setup, and inventory tracking
6. Perform basic troubleshooting and guided diagnostics using approved tools and procedures
7. Support classroom and office technology such as displays, printers, and peripherals
8. Follow district technology standards, procedures, and security practices
9. Provide feedback to senior staff on recurring issues and user support needs
10. Participate in technology projects in a support role as assigned
11. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Technology or designee
REPORTS TO: Executive Director of Technology
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Typical office conditions: sitting, bending, stooping, filing, occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds of office supplies/files. Close vision at or correctable to normal range.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 month contract
SALARY:
Per BAO collective bargaining agreement
Salary : $47,456 - $50,361
