Job Description:

Highly Skilled labor to make adjustments to asphalt mat thickness and slope to obtain a finish grade by using an asphalt lute or finishing tool. Must have experience on roadway wand parking lots etc.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Performs various skilled and unskilled task, which are associated with asphalt paving and grading operations. This includes but not limited to operation of the lute to obtain a finish product of asphalt laydown. Screed or jack experience is a plus.
• May use various tools such as shovel, rake, lute, broom, etc.
• May operate farm type tractor with power broom attachment.
• Must have good vision to be able to see mat defects and grade defects and to identify problems behind the paver to make the necessary adjustments to obtain a good ride- ability finish asphalt mat.

Minimum Qualifications & Training:

• Experienced but will train a willing and capable candidate.
• Encourage a valid NC Driver's License.
• Willingness to learn multiple tasks of the paving operation.
• Ability to abide by precise instructions.
• Ability to abide by strict but necessary safety rules and policies.
• Must be a reliable and trustworthy individual that will be a team player.
• Maintain a good attendance and safety record .
• Ability to work Saturdays, Sunday's when needed, and some nights.
• Military Base pass will be needed for some positions.

Tasks Essential to Job Functions:

• This job requires the following motions: standing, walking, stretching, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting, throwing, reaching and squatting.
• Required regular lifting of 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Walking and standing may require a full day of 12 to 15 hours.
• Will be exposed to sometimes extreme hot and cold temperatures.
• Job required riding to and from work. If the driving of company vehicle is required, then the guidelines of the company driver qualification standards must be met.
