Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Nursery Manager to oversee daily operations at our plant nursery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in agriculture, pesticide management and outdoor work, with the ability to self-start, take responsibility, manage staff, maintain plant health, and ensure the efficient growth of vegetable transplants. Duties
- Supervise daily nursery activities, including planting, watering, pruning, and harvesting plants
- Oversee irrigation systems to ensure proper water distribution and health of plants
- Manage greenhouse operations, including climate control and plant care routines
- Coordinate planting schedules and monitor growth progress for various species
- Maintain and operate farming tools, mechanical equipment, and land management machinery
- Identify plants accurately for health assessments and inventory management
- Implement plant management and cultivation projects as needed
- Ensure safety protocols are followed during heavy lifting and outdoor work activities
- Assist with soil preparation, fertilization, pest control, and disease management
- Lead, train and monitor staff on planting techniques and equipment use
Skills
- Extensive growing experience with a solid understanding of planting principles
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, greenhouse management, and plant identification
- Familiarity with farming, pesticide management and agriculture practices
- Mechanical knowledge related to farming tools and land management equipment
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently in outdoor environments
- Strong organizational skills with basic math proficiency for inventory and measurement tasks
- Hands-on experience with farming, outdoor work, and plant maintenance
