What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Scribe/Medical Assistant position at Barnett Allergy Asthma Center?
Are you a pre Med (MD/DO) or pre PA college graduate taking a gap year to get clinical exposure before applying to graduate school? If so, you'd be perfect for this role. We are looking for someone who wants to learn how to do medical back office work and get exposure to patient care and on the job training that will assist in your application and your future career. Dr. Barnett also provides opportunities for learning physical exam skills, history taking, and assistance with writing/editing personal statements to help candidates in their journey to a career in medicine. We are looking for a candidate who may be finishing up their undergraduate degree but able to start training part time between now and graduation then full time thereafter or a college graduate planning to take a 2nd gap year.
Barnett Allergy Asthma Center is an independent, thriving practice, which has been voted “Best in Denton County” for 6 years running. Better yet, because we are a solo practice, all team members are cross-trained and share the workload. Each day will bring exciting new challenges in a thriving Allergy practice including, but not limited to:
- Performing pulmonary function testing and allergy testing
- Checking in patients including taking a detailed HPI, reconciling medication lists and entering past medical & surgical histories.
- Answering phones, scheduling patients, and performing insurance verification calls.
Qualifications
- Eligible to work in the US without a visa
- No Medical Assistant certification required
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Able to effortlessly interact with a diverse population of patients with professionalism.
- Strong attention to detail
- Typing skills (prior Medical Scribe experience preferred but not required)
- Able/willing to work our office hours (other than Wednesday afternoons, these hours are not flexible/optional)
Monday & Thursday: 7:50am to 5:30pm
Tuesday: 9:50am to 6:30pm
Wednesday: 7:20am to 5pm
Currently off Fridays but may add Friday mornings in the next year.
Salary Range: $17-19 depending on prior scribe/office experience
