SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Communications Manager, and according to established firm policies and procedures, the Communications Coordinator is a key contributor in producing firm marketing content and works with other communications team members to enhance the firm’s internal and external communications programs across the firm’s network of offices. The Communications Coordinator will be an effective communicator and able to write consistent, clear and concise copy to assist the team with writing needs, research assignments, administrative tasks and other projects.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provides project management and writing, editing, publishing and distribution support for projects assigned to the communications team, including, but not limited to:
- Firm biographies: New biography drafting and announcement process; oversees ongoing biography updates
- Press releases: Drafting, publishing and distribution of press releases and announcements for attorney and firm awards, events and other happenings
- Other writing and content projects: BT News (the firm’s internal e-newsletter) and thought leadership content, i.e. legal alerts and legal insights, as needed
- Provides support for legal directory submissions and surveys, including, but not limited to:
- Researches and coordinates logistics for Chambers USA, Best Lawyers/Best Law Firms, Super Lawyers and other legal marketing surveys that involve the firm and its attorneys
- Works with communications team members to announce appropriate rankings and accolades through media channels (e.g., website, internal, client communications, etc.)
- Produces annual comparison reports of results and rankings
- Maintains an online reference repository for preparing future submissions
- Supports attorney and firm local, regional and national awards and nominations processes, including, but not limited to:
- Identifies, writes and edits nominations on behalf of attorneys and the firm
- Project manages the review and approval process
- Submits completed nominations to the entity or publication
- Maintains repository of nominees and honorees for future reference
- Researches, writes and edits communications for various firm channels, practice groups and departments. Works alongside marketing services, client growth and communications teams to perform such duties.
- Maintains and updates firm marketing collateral and other brand assets, including lateral recruiting materials, firm website, etc.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required
- Two to three years of professional services, corporate, government or nonprofit communications or marketing experience. Law firm marketing experience preferable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to proofread materials for grammatical, typographical and spelling errors; ability to communicate in complicated and changing circumstances, as well as having the aptitude or motivation to communicate in an appropriate manner. Experience with Associated Press style (drafting and editing)
- 3. Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints and tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work quality.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Possess interpersonal and communication skills in order to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys, business professionals and clients and provide information with appropriate courtesy and tact while safeguarding confidentiality and representing the firm in a favorable and business-like manner.
- Build trust and credibility as a communications partner, providing internal clients with sound advice and effective internal communications planning support.
- Self-motivated, highly flexible, intellectually curious, a fast learner. Works well with or without direct supervision on projects.
- Proficiency in Windows 10; Word, PowerPoint and spreadsheet applications, preferably Excel. Keen understanding of desktop publishing and design programs, email marketing software, content management systems, etc.
- The ideal candidate will be a positive, highly motivated, and client service-focused professional who thrives in a multi-office, team-based work setting.
- Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperatures and the like.
- Work often requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position; requires irregular hours.
