Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Bindery Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining bindery equipment to produce high-quality printed materials. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Bindery Operator will play a crucial role in ensuring that all print jobs meet quality standards and are completed on time.
Responsibilities
- Operate various bindery equipment including booklet makers, guillotines, cutters, laminating, folders, and stitchers to finish printed materials.
- Perform quality control checks throughout the production process to ensure accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with prepress and graphic design teams to understand job requirements and specifications.
- Maintain equipment by performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Skill in setting up and adjusting machines for finishing operations and to refine such adjustments for the weight, color, machinability and quality of paper stock being used and to prevent machining impressions on the printed materials.
- Accepts targets and goals, and makes certain they are met.
- Assist in the setup of jobs, including layout design and typography adjustments as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.
Experience
The successful candidate will possess:
- 2 or more years of related experience.
- Familiarity with basic mathematics (i.e. decimals, metric units) to understand dimensional requirements contained on job orders and make more complicated adjustments.
- Knowledge of operating procedures for bindery equipment such as folders, cutters, collators, stitchers, drills, binding/gluing machines, digital printing, and offset printing.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Adobe Suite is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance occasionally.
- Excellent communicator both orally and written.
- Must be a team player with the ability to work productively and easily with others.
- Positive attitude towards daily work, co-workers, and clients.
- Ability to work well and calmly under pressure.
- High level of attention to detail and quality is required.
- Dependable, flexible, and approachable.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
