Summer Intern: Volunteer & Tour Programs

Primary Function: Interns work with experts in their fields, gain valuable job experience, and engage in meaningful work.

Job Qualifications: Eligible interns are either an undergraduate or graduate student or a recent college graduate.

Clearances: Criminal Background-National and Credit Report

Moving

• Approximately 80% of time is spent seated while working at a desk.

Job Responsibilities: The Volunteer and Tour program develops and presents tours to the public as well as fulfill private requests. We work with Reserve, Advancement, Events, Membership and Group Sales to provide guests with an introduction to the collection and special exhibition in addition to producing thematic monthly tours. Training of the docent staff is provided through close collaboration with Research, Archives and Education to provide the most current and accurate information.

Interns May

• Plan and develop enrichment opportunities for docents through trips and lectures
• Coordinate tours with neighboring departments
• Create files and training documents for distribution.
• Learn how to navigate ticketing and scheduling platforms
• Facilitate requests for corporate clients
• Collaborate with Research, Archives, and Education to provide training material
• Plan and participate in a curator led Q&A session
• Master the mechanics of a tour and present at Calder or Barnes
