What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Accounting Analyst position at Barnes Aerospace?
Core Responsibilities
- Support month-end close, including journal entries and account reconciliation
- Analyze manufacturing variances (labor, material, overhead) and provide actionable insights
- Assist in inventory accounting, including cycle count analysis and inventory reserves
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts with a focus on inventory and cost accounts
- Support standard cost updates and cost roll processes
- Prepare internal financial reports and variance explanations for management
- Ensure compliance with internal controls (including SOX, if applicable)
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Utilize Syteline ERP for transaction processing, reporting, and data extraction
- Identify and support process improvement initiatives within accounting and operations
- 0–2 years of relevant experience (manufacturing or cost accounting preferred)
- Foundational knowledge of GAAP
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic modeling)
- Strong attention to detail and analytical capability
- Internship or experience in manufacturing or aerospace industry preferred
- Experience with Syteline ERP or similar manufacturing ERP systems preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving
- Attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (operations, supply chain)
- Effective communication of financial information
- Time management and ability to meet deadlines
