Job Overview:

The Pharmacy Technician assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under the direct supervision of the Registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical, and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups (including geriatrics, and adult).

The Pharmacy Technician delivers medication, returns discharged medications to the pharmacy, and fills the PYXIS machines.

Qualifications:

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

• Associate's degree
• Prior hospital pharmacy experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• Registered Pharmacy Technician in NJ

Scheduling Requirements:

• Shift working, weekend coverage 8:30am-5pm; and includes a winter holiday and summer holiday
• Per Diem (PD)

Essential Functions:

• Under the direction of the Registered Pharmacist, prepares medication for dispensing; maintains unit dose system; delivers drug orders; and maintains and demonstrates awareness of limitations of technicians
• Performs dosage calculations and labels appropriately
• Maintains, files, troubleshoots, and runs reports in Pyxis
• Communicates all discrepancies and information requested to a Registered Pharmacist
• Displays self initiative in anticipating and resolving daily work issues
• Performs all other duties as assigned
