BARN NATURE CENTER FOUNDATION
Title: Fundraising & Event Coordinator
Salary: TBD
Hours: Full-time, which may include day, evening, and weekend hours as scheduled
Accountability: The Fundraising & Events Coordinator(FEC) shall be held accountable to the Barn Nature Center(BNC) Executive Director(ED) and the Board of Directors
Duties and Responsibilities:
A. Follow all animal feeding, cleaning, grooming, medication, handling, and enrichment schedules and/or protocols as directed by the Animal Care Coordinator (ACC).
B. Provide proper care to all animals residing at the BNC including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and invertebrates.
C. Record accurate data in all logs and compliance sheets; monitor health of all animals and promptly alert ED and ACC of any changes of behavior and/or health status, or significant concerns.
D. Maintain clean, hygienic, and organized facility and equipment (indoors and outdoors).
E. Facilitate programs and events as scheduled and requested by ED.
F. Maintain excellent customer service with all guests.
G. Develop and implement an annual fund program with goals based on the approved annual budget.
H. Provide assistance to the ED with grant writing as assigned by the Board of Directors and explore other funding opportunities as requested.
I. Cultivate and steward relationships with former and current program participants as well as community members to create a viable donor base.
J. Process and properly acknowledge donations in a timely manner.
K. Supervise trainees, interns, and volunteers when ED is not present and delegate tasks as needed. Report any concerns regarding trainees, interns, or volunteers to ED, Education Program Coordinator (EPC) and ACC.
L. Assure that the party room and kitchen areas are clean, stocked appropriately and properly decorated before and after all events. Assist as necessary BNC shopping.
M. Promptly answer phones/emails as needed and/or directed.
N. Report any incidents and/or safety concerns to ED immediately.
O. Develop, coordinate, promote, and facilitate and/or assist with programs as needed including (but not limited to) guided/self-guided tours, birthday parties, group events, traveling programs, special events, and fundraisers.
P. Provide appropriate paperwork to both customers and BNC staff facilitating the programs. Ensure deposits and final payments are received in an appropriate and timely manner and are recorded in BNC finances accordingly.
Q. Work with EPC to maintain and update BNC website, Facebook page, and other social media platforms. Any content changes to the website must be pre-approved by the ED.
R. Work with EPC to maintain and update contact list of guests and customers. Send out emails to contact list as needed with information regarding upcoming events.
S. Coordinate and implement marketing opportunities/strategies, with approval of ED.
T. Prioritize safety in all aspects of BNC operations and programming. Assure compliance with BNC Foundation policies and company directives.
U. Concluding, you are responsible for any and all additional duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age. Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Education, or Biology preferred. Experience using MailChimp, Weebly, Ticketleap, and Canva or comparable platforms for email blasts, website maintenance, and graphic design preferred. Specific training in business, marketing, advertising, office work, Animal Husbandry/Training and/or experience with education/children/adolescents is preferred. Candidate must also demonstrate excellent communication, writing, customer service and computer skills, excellent event development and facilitation, as well as the ability to work independently with the animals living at the BNC. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Must have valid Driver’s License.
