We are seeking a dynamic Bark Ranger to join our innovative and unique Dog Bar. As a Bark Ranger, you will be responsible for overseeing the safety, well-being, and behavior of our canine customers. This position requires a passion for dogs with the ability to engage and interact with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and activity levels. Bark Rangers must have a strong understanding of canine behavior, continued interest in learning more about their behaviors, excellent communication skills, and a passion for ensuring a positive experience for all patrons. Sunday - Wednesday availability preferred.
Responsibilities:
Supervise Dog Activities:
- Monitor dog interactions to ensure they are safe and appropriate.
- Intervene in any conflicts or aggressive behavior among dogs.
- Ensure that all dogs, as well as their owners, adhere to park rules.
- Learn and use only positive reinforcement and fear-free methods when working with dogs.
Provide Customer Service:
- Welcome visitors to the dog park and provide information about park rules and regulations as needed.
- Assist dog owners with any questions or concerns they may have.
- Address any issues or conflicts that arise among park visitors professionally and courteously.
- Assist with member check-ins, sign-ups, and sales transactions as needed.
Maintain Cleanliness:
- Regularly inspect the yard for cleanliness issues and clean up debris or waste as needed.
- Ensure that dog waste disposal stations are stocked and functional.
- Re-setting tables and seating areas as they are vacated and wiping down/replacing chairs.
- Other cleaning duties as assigned.
Enforce Park Rules:
- Enforce park rules regarding leash requirements, dog behavior, and owner responsibilities.
- Educate park visitors about the importance of following rules to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all.
Promote Safety:
- Regularly inspect the yard for hazards and ensure all park equipment is in good working condition.
- Report any maintenance/safety issues to the appropriate staff member.
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or incidents that occur within the park.
Qualifications:
- Ability to be on your feet for long hours, both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions for the majority of time.
- Experience working with dogs, such as dog training, dog walking, or veterinary assistance.
- Strong understanding of canine behavior and body language, and able to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to move quickly, kneel, squat, bend over, push, pull, and lift or carry items weighing as much as 30 pounds.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency procedures for dogs.
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed.
- Passion for promoting responsible dog ownership and creating a safe and welcoming environment for dogs and their owners.
Pay: From $12.00 per hour
