Role Description
This is a full-time position in the Fair Haven, NJ office for a Special Education Attorney. The role involves representing children and families in special education matters, including preparing for and attending Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, due process hearings, and mediations. The Special Education Attorney may also manage legal matters related to student discipline, bullying, and guardianship, as well as safeguard children’s rights under state and federal education laws. Additionally, the attorney will provide legal counsel to families to navigate their rights and options effectively.
Qualifications
- Active bar admission in New Jersey;
- Strong interest in special education;
- Familiarity with federal and state educational laws, including the IDEA and ADA;
- Dedication to serving children and families with professionalism and empathy;
- Excellent writing skills;
- Willingness to handle cases from start to finish including, if necessary, due process hearings.
