We are seeking an organized, dependable, and detail-oriented Floor Tech to join our environmental team. The Floor Tech is responsible for maintaining clean, safe, and attractive flooring throughout the long-term care facility. This role performs routine and restorative floor care while following infection-control procedures, safety standards, and resident-centered service expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Sweep, dust mop, vacuum, and damp mop resident rooms, hallways, common areas, offices, dining areas, and other assigned spaces.
- Operate floor-care equipment, including buffers, burnishers, scrubbers, extractors, vacuums, and carpet-cleaning machines.
- Strip, wax, seal, buff, and polish hard-surface floors according to the facility’s floor-care schedule.
- Shampoo, spot-clean, and extract carpets; remove stains and report damaged flooring.
- Clean and maintain floor-care equipment; safely store chemicals, tools, and supplies while adhering to facility policies and procedures.
- Follow all infection-prevention, hazardous-material, PPE, and chemical-labeling procedures.
- Respond promptly to spills, urgent cleaning needs, and requests from residents or staff.
- Report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, and supply shortages to the supervisor.
- Maintain a professional, courteous demeanor around residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in floor care, housekeeping, environmental services, healthcare, hospitality, or commercial cleaning preferred; training may be provided.
- Ability to safely operate floor-care machinery and use cleaning chemicals according to instructions.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work respectfully in a resident-care environment.
Work Environment
This position works in a healthcare setting with frequent contact with residents, staff, and visitors. The role may require evening, weekend, holiday.
