Bard Manufacturing Company, Inc., a leader in the HVAC industry, has an opening for a Buyer / Procurement Planner at our Corporate office in Bryan, OH.

Role Overview:
The Buyer / Procurement Planner is responsible for the procurement of production materials to support HVAC equipment manufacturing operations in Ohio, Georgia and Mexico. Help to manage commodity purchases to support production and new product development while minimizing costs and inventory levels without sacrificing quality. This position will be proficiently cross trained in numerous roles within the department specifically to include Master Scheduling which develops the schedule for our production facilities/lines to ensure timely delivery of products to our customers. Working closely with multiple departments within the organization. Additional cross training in the roles of Service Center Coordinator, Service Center Management/Inventory Control, Supplier Quality. The ideal candidate for this position is one who thrives on learning and growing in their skills and development.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Implement Cycle Count Process to align with new ERP System
- Procurement of raw materials needed for production by location (MRP)
- Ensure and schedule timely and cost-effective delivery of raw materials
- Maintain and create strong supplier relationships
- Utilize supplier relationships with key strategic suppliers and leverage fact-based negotiation tactics to achieve cost targets
- Inventory control management (safety stock, moq, lead time) to meet production needs while avoiding overstocking or shortages
- Identify and mitigate potential risks in supply chain, such as disruption or supplier failure
- Support purchasing strategies to achieve Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) performance objectives to improve operational profitability
- Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production Control to support new product introductions
- Establish strong relationships with key strategic suppliers and leverage fact-based negotiation tactics to achieve cost targets
- Facilitate material cost reduction strategies and lead cost reduction teams
- Ensure the development and achievement of quality objectives commensurate with Bard’s quality policy, supporting continued ISO certification
- Work on assignments that are moderately complex in nature where judgment is required in resolving problems and making routine recommendations
- Exhibit a strong collaborative work style, strong communication, and commitment to shared goals
- Contribute to internal training and provide support across the business on supplier creation and amendment, purchase requisitioning and other procurement processes.
- Supports Finance team with invoice and receiving discrepancies.
- Cross-train for other roles in the department
- All other duties, as assigned
Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
- 2-5 years purchasing and material planning/scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment with MRP
- Knowledge and experience with Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, Lean certification a plus, but not required
- Experience with New Product Development implementation a plus but not required
- Experience with scheduling/planning a plus but not required
- Knowledge of operations, scheduling and purchasing procedures, MRP systems and their processes, and supply chain best practices
- Practical knowledge of purchasing and supply chain strategies
- Proficient in critical thinking, problem solving and planning; identifies opportunities and proposes solutions
- Strong analytical skills; forecast shifts, sales data, supplier performance, schedule changes
- Resourceful team player, but self-driven and able to be effective independently
- Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with minimal supervision
- Works with purpose and a sense of urgency; capable of achieving goals and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong project management skills, strong business orientation.
- Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical staff
- Works collaboratively with other departments and suppliers in a timely, cooperative manner promoting courtesy, objectivity, and fairness
- Attend relevant meetings to ensure information sharing and fact finding necessary for successful change management
- Demonstrates strong organizational skills; performs and prioritizes multiple tasks with attention to detail
- Continuously looks for improvement in processes and workflows
- Proficient in excel spreadsheet creation and analysis
