Bard College seeks a Senior Associate Director of Admission to join the Admission department. Reporting to the Director of Admission, the Senior Associate Director of Admission will serve as a key member of the admission and enrollment team with a focused recruiting territory of New York City, Long Island, and select other schools. Not only will this position be responsible for assisting in the creation and execution of the strategy to recruit, admit, and enroll prospective students, but will also serve as a leader on the counseling team helping to instill best practices to achieve the goals of the College by building relationships with students, their families, school counselors, independent educational consultants (IEC), and other constituents.

Fall recruitment takes place from September through November (sometimes starting in August) and spring recruitment takes place from March through May with occasional travel for fairs, trainings, and conferences during the summer months.

This position can either be remote or on campus. Remote staff are often required to train on the Bard College campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.

Bard College’s main campus is in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., with 1,900 undergraduate students; the College also includes multiple graduate programs. Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Bard College through high/secondary school visits, college fairs, community college visits, counselor and IEC functions, community-based organization events, and/or conferences
  • Plan, develop, and implement outreach and recruitment activities to meet enrollment goals while considering all relevant data
  • Meet with and advise prospective students and their families about the college search process and provide relevant information about opportunities available to them at Bard
  • Participate in on-campus programs such as Immediate Decision Plan, Fall Open House, and Admitted Students Days
  • Attend and participate in workshop days and case study events at the request of individual high/secondary schools
  • Establish and maintain personalized contact (phone, email, written correspondence, etc.) with students, families, counselors, IECs, and other referral sources
  • Pursue all necessary follow up and yield activities in support of the goals of the College
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to a variety of different audiences along with participation on different panels and workshops
  • Secondary responsibilities include new recruitment program development and implementation and other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least five years of professional experience in Higher Education, preferably in the admission office
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ease in using and learning technology for communication, record keeping, and management of data
  • Excellent writing, communication, and time management skills
  • Highly levels of organization and self-motivation with ability to function independently
  • Ability to work some irregular hours and travel and work on occasional nights and weekends
  • Driver’s license in good standing

Compensation: $80,000 to $85,000 annually

This salary range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Salary decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
