Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic X-ray and fluoroscopic imaging procedures as ordered by orthopaedic providers in accordance with ALARA and safety principles.
  • Position patients accurately to obtain optimal images of the musculoskeletal system (spine, joints, and extremities).
  • Operate digital radiography (DR) and picture archiving and communication system (PACS) equipment proficiently.
  • Verify patient identification and confirm physician orders before performing examinations.
  • Review and evaluate images for technical quality and diagnostic completeness before submitting to physicians or radiologists.
  • Educate and guide patients through the imaging process, ensuring comfort, safety, and understanding.
  • Maintain accurate patient and imaging documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) and PACS systems.
  • Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of radiographic equipment and supplies.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, infection control protocols, and radiation protection guidelines.
  • Collaborate with orthopedic physicians, physician assistants, and clinical staff to ensure timely imaging workflow.
  • Participate in ongoing quality assurance programs, equipment calibration, and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain continuing education and certification requirements in compliance with state and national standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
  • Certification and Experience:
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (R).
  • Minimum of one (1) year of MRI experience.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Experience

PREFERED QUALIFICATION:

  • Orthopaedic or musculoskeletal imaging experience in an outpatient setting.
