JOB SUMMARY:
Convert data from specifications to design and engineer cabinets by performing the following duties.
- Perform daily work using Cabinet Vision.
- Research data and specifications to determine feasibility to set up and design cabinets.
- Apply generally accepted programming standards and techniques to assure efficient programming logic and data manipulation.
- Analyze project for specifications to determine design that can produce manufactured cabinets to be laid out for construction.
- Determine feasibility of design.
- Available to “download” to the CNC equipment, as required.
- Work from master plan for configuring cabinets from measurements provided by measurer.
- Work independently and must be knowledgeable of the cabinet construction in order to assemble and figure parts, doors, panels, drawers, and board stocks within 16th of an inch in laying out and cutting parts to cabinets.
- Read from blueprints in developing configuration of cabinets to be installed.
- Use math skills to assess proper layout, figuring angles by use of multiplication and division. Works with the Project Manager to assure accurate layout.
- Confer with Engineering staff to discuss design modifications.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED OF THE POSITION:
- General knowledge of the construction industry in a manufacturing setting to maintain information necessary for layout of cabinets.
- Specialize in frameless cabinet design.
- Ability to read blueprints to ensure changes in plans and specifications are accurately noted.
- Knowledge of algebra, geometry, adding, and dividing fractions to figure angles, measurements, etc.
- Knowledge of programming and designing in a manufacturing setting.
- Ability to schedule and control work projects to complete work in a timely manner.
- Incumbent must be proficient using typing skills with office automated systems such as a personal computer and/or computer terminal with printer capability to perform word processing, database management, and other software applications.
- Ability to communicate orally with project manager and office personnel.
- Knowledge of Cabinet Vision or Cabinet Ware.
MANAGER CONTROLS:
The Manager defines the objectives and priorities, informs the incumbent of special priorities and deadlines, and the degree of quality and accuracy that is expected. The manager provides additional instructions for new, difficult, or unusual tasks that may include suggested work methods or advice. The incumbent independently carries out regular and recurring assignments without assistance. However, the Manager is available for advice on any deviations, problems, or unusual instructions. Completed work, reports, and procedures are reviewed for technical accuracy and compliance with instructions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND SAFETY AND HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:
Work is performed in a normal office setting. The worksite is well lighted, well ventilated, and easily accessible. Employee is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for job assignment and work areas where assigned, as directed by the Manager.
