DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT POSITION
Barbi Zakin Events is looking for a Development Assistant with at least one year of professional experience in development and/or fundraising at a non-profit organization. The ideal applicant is poised and articulate, and a team player who is comfortable with a wide range of responsibilities including data entry, verbal and written communication, and working in a fast-paced setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide day-to-day administrative support including scheduling and calendar management and inventory management;
· Track and bill for all expenses on a bi-weekly basis;
· Identify and research prospective donors;
· Draft solicitations and track responses from donors;
· Manage mailing lists and spearhead mailing projects at the start of each event;
· Update clients with any and all changes to donor records;
· Process gifts and maintain responsibility for the accuracy of records across all internal tracking systems;
· Prepare all pledge and acknowledgment letters, and honoree notifications, paying close attention to detail;
· Field phone calls and handle any necessary follow-up; and
· Carry out multiple event responsibilities and troubleshoot when necessary on event days.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail including proofreading
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
· Capable of managing multiple projects and tasks at one time, and communicating progress of tasks effectively
· Able to work in a dynamic environment with changing demands and expectations, and flexible to new tasks
· Strong research and analytic skills (i.e. research potential event honorees, venues, vendors, as well as potential new donors)
· Resourceful and motivated
· Creative and enthusiastic
· A team player with strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including the ability to be welcoming by phone and email
· Fluent in Microsoft Word Office, Google Suite, and Adobe Suite. Additional computer skills are a plus
