What You’ll Do
- Program multi‑axis mills and lathes using advanced CAM (Siemens NX preferred) from BN or customer models/drawings—components and fixturing included.
- Author detailed setup and run documentation; validate programs via process verification and/or simulation (NX or Vericut preferred) to hit spec efficiently.
- Engineer cutting strategies: choose methods, paths, speeds/feeds for difficult materials (Inconel, titanium, etc.) to balance metal removal rate with strict tolerances.
- Interpret drawings, GD&T, and design data to calculate dimensions, select tooling, and set optimal parameters; source and/or develop custom tooling with vendors.
- Drive production readiness: ensure programs, documentation, workholding, and tooling are released before first‑op; participate in readiness reviews.
- Support machinists on the floor—monitor builds, troubleshoot, refine programs and processes, and provide training to improve throughput and quality.
- Partner with engineers and program managers to disposition nonconformances; implement immediate rework and long‑term corrective actions, including programming and documentation updates.
- Embed safety in every step: design safe machining processes, lead improvements in cells, and uphold all PPE and safety procedures.
- Champion the QMS: locate and follow procedures, document improvements, and help train teammates to maintain compliance.
Education & Training: Associate’s degree in manufacturing technology or programming certification preferred; equivalent machining/programming experience considered.
Experience
- 5 years programming complex lathe and mill parts with advanced CAM in aerospace manufacturing (Siemens NX preferred).
- Proven success holding tight tolerances in hard‑to‑machine materials (e.g., Inconel, titanium).
- Deep GD&T proficiency; knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and ISO standards.
- History of creating effective support documentation; ability to set up and run jobs.
- Strong process development mindset and shop math skills.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
