Marketing Specialist

Join our team in this entry-level Marketing position.
The Marketing Specialist is responsible for promoting our organization's services using visually engaging concepts and current media and external resources. This position supports the efforts of External Affairs in positioning the Barber National Institute in the community as a vibrant, growing organization.
Responsibilities of Marketing Specialist:
- Act as primary liaison internally with members of the External Affairs department and agency departments
- Develop, implement, and ensure completion of due dates for creative projects, social media, mass mailings, events, etc.
- Assist with content and scheduling of social media posts.
- Maintain inventory, organize, and ship online Gift Shop merchandise.
- Place orders for merchandise when applicable
- Work with website developer to update online store as necessary.
- Fill Employee of the Month ‘orders’ from Gift Shop merchandise stock
- Designing and developing graphics for communicative materials through the Adobe Creative Suite
- Manage BNI LinkedIn account through creation of content (news, events, job postings, etc.), growing Reach and expanding Impressions.
- Coordinate mass mailings: generate mailing lists for Barber Spirit, Donor Report, Erie Gives Day, Christmas Ball invitations, Annual Giving, Thanksgiving Card, and any additional advancement efforts as deemed necessary.
- Generate donor lists for donor reports (Friends, Memorials, Tributes, EITC, In-Kind, Legacy Society, Corp/Fdn/Matching Gifts, Clubs & Organizations, Board of Directors) as requested.
- Assemble giving history reports on donors and event reports.
- Coordinate the addition of new funds each year for events, i.e., Christmas Ball – Fundraiser (to record the charitable portion of the donation) and Christmas Ball – Quid Pro Quo (to record the fair market value) with IT.
- Meet with Accounting staff monthly to balance Dynamics Donor Management Platform against Great Plains and ensure accuracy.
- Work on/at BNI Events as needed.
- Maintain/expand filing system for confidential correspondence as directed by/for the Director.
- Maintain office forms, filing systems and all department correspondence.
- Maintain a Donor File System (hard file) and Donor Software System (relational database).
- Prepare, coordinate, and track Day-to-Day office activity and correspondence.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to be able to perform the essential job functions which include but are not limited to creating/maintaining word processing, spreadsheets, & databases.
- Responsible for office services which include production and distribution of gift receipts, acknowledgments, pledge reminders and qualified matching gifts when applicable.
- Aid and backup for biographic and gift entry in the Donor File System and Development Software System as needed.
- Willing to contribute actively to the Institute’s mission which includes but is not limited to, commitment to excellence, a spirit of service, moral and spiritual values, sensitivity to institute concerns and time commitment.
Qualifications of Marketing Specialist:
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Advertising or related field.
- Excellent computer skills, including Excel, Adobe Creative Cloud, email marketing tools, and adaptability to new platforms.
- Excellent communication, written and verbal, multi-tasking, time management, and troubleshooting skills.
- A creative thinker to bring fresh ideas to the team.
- Valid driver’s license
- Eligibility for State Police Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse History Clearance
- FBI Clearance required for individuals who do not meet PA residency requirements
