This non-litigation role is perfect for a strategic thinker who thrives on variety. You will seamlessly transition between drafting business contracts, advising individuals on their separations, and providing business clients with proactive employment compliance counseling.
As a primary partner to our clients, you won't just be reviewing documents—you will be a trusted advisor guiding them through workplace dynamics, crisis management, and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactive Counseling: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, delivering compliance counseling on employment laws, workplace policies, and HR best practices to clients of all sizes regarding state and federal employment law compliance.
- Contract & Agreement Crafting: Draft, review, and negotiate foundational business agreements, employment contracts, severance packages, and handbooks.
- Investigations & Crisis Management: Lead complex workplace investigations with objectivity and tact, providing strategic guidance during sensitive client crises.
- Administrative Representation: Represent clients effectively before administrative agencies, including the EEOC and local regulatory bodies (no litigation required). Defend employers against claims involving the FMLA, ADA, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, and wage law violations.
- Team Collaboration: Pitch in where needed to support firm growth, collaborating openly with team members in a low-ego, high-support environment.
- Client Relationship Management: Demonstrate an "owner’s mentality" in client communications, managing relationships with a strong sense of accountability and responsiveness.
- Employment Agreement Negotiations: Assist with the negotiation of employment contracts and severance agreements on behalf of employer or employee.
- Contract Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with exceptional attention to detail to ensure client interests are protected.
- Business Partnership: Act as a primary point of contact for clients, offering analytical insights to manage commercial matters efficiently.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience: Minimum of 6 years in business or employment law. We value diverse backgrounds and welcome candidates with non-traditional career paths.

· Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable advice for clients.
· Location: Ability to work from our Tampa office in the 33606 area.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Stationary Work: Ability to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for extended periods (up to 75% of the workday) while performing computer and/or desk-based tasks.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to read and analyze data on a computer screen and in printed legal documents for long durations.
- Communication: Ability to clearly communicate information and ideas so others will understand; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations via phone and in person.
- Work Environment: This is a professional office environment with a moderate noise level (telephones, printers, and foot traffic).
PREFERRED SKILLS
· Certifications: Investigation (AWI) or Human Resources (SHRM/PHR) certification.
· In-House Perspective: Prior experience as in-house counsel is a significant plus.
· Tech Savvy: Proficiency with PracticePanther (or similar LSP) and Google Suite.
WHY JOIN US?
