Heavy Equipment Technician Intern

As a Heavy Equipment Technician Intern, you will be part of the Shop Maintenance team at Baranko Companies. You'll work alongside a mentor, assisting seasoned technicians with routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of equipment, including but not limited to scrapers, bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, motor graders, haul trucks, front-end loaders, water pumps, heavy trucks, automotive vehicles, and trailers.

RESPONSIBLITIES

• Perform basic maintenance tasks like changing oil, filters, and lubricating components.
• Assist in inspecting equipment for safety and performance issues.
• Collaborate and learn from experienced technicians on how to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment problems.
• Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used.
• Be ready to perform repairs in the field when needed.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
• Assist with cleaning and organizing the work area.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.
• Complete Internship Program objectives.
  
  

Requirements

• Ability to work in various environments, primarily in the field, as well as in the shop, and in all weather conditions.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and comply with drug and alcohol policies during employment.
• Must have a reliable form of transportation to and from work.
• Must be at least 18 years old or turning 18 before the internship begins.
  
  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Interest in pursuing a career as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
• Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow in the role.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with measurement and gauging tools
• Capable of troubleshooting in a systematic way.
