Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and report any concerns promptly
- Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient safety and confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties and proper infection control practices
- Observe and document residents’ conditions, behaviors, and progress to inform care plans and communicate effectively with healthcare teams
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s lifts to assist with mobility and prevent injury during transfers
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring
- Certification or training in CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance, and dementia or Alzheimer’s care is advantageous
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physical tasks required for caregiving duties
- Strong communication skills with a compassionate attitude toward working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or other special needs
- Experience working with residents’ care plans and assisting with complex needs such as hospice or memory care is a plus
- Flexibility to work various shifts in home health or long-term care environments
