Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Part-Time Bookkeeper (1099 Contractor) to support ongoing corporate and retail bookkeeping needs. This is a long-term contractor role with consistent weekly hours, ideal for a self-directed professional who is comfortable working independently, maintaining clean financial records, and enforcing strong documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Enter and accurately categorize transactions in QuickBooks
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and merchant/processor accounts
- Manage accounts payable (vendor bills, payments) and accounts receivable (invoicing, payment posting)
- Retail bookkeeping support, including:
- Matching POS sales reports to deposits
- Tracking merchant fees and discrepancies
- Assure source document verification for all bookkeeping entries, including:
- Uploading and attaching receipts, invoices, and supporting documentation to each transaction in QuickBooks
- Ensuring appropriate notations and memos are included (e.g., business purpose for credit card meals, travel, or reimbursable expenses)
- Maintain organized financial records and a clear audit trail
- Prepare routine summaries and reports as requested
- Coordinate with external CPA/accountant for month-end and tax support
- Assist with documenting bookkeeping procedures and workflows to support the creation of an internal accounting manual
- Provide limited support related to payroll preparation (data gathering, report review, coordination with payroll provider only; no payroll processing or filings)
Qualifications
- 3 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Proven reconciliation experience
- Demonstrated discipline around documentation and audit support
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage confidential information discreetly
- Comfortable working independently as a 1099 contractor
- Ability to reliably attend required on-site days in Skillman and Camden, NJ
- Availability during U.S. Eastern Time business hours

Scope of Work
This role is focused on day-to-day bookkeeping and reconciliations only.
