What are the responsibilities and job description for the Echo Technician - Cardiology position at baptisthealth?
Performs the duties necessary to provide echocardiograms. This includes scheduling tests, maintenance of equipment, preparation of patient, performing the exam in a proficient, timely manner to include appropriate measurements, consultation with physician, disposition of exams, filing and proper billing. Maintains clinical competencies of Echocardiography Lab. Demonstrates ability to teach new echocardiographic techniques. During echo exam perform additional diagnostic techniques of echocardiography as demonstrated necessary by exam findings. Assists in performance evaluations of Echo technicians. Assists in the development of educational guidelines, departmental policies, procedures, future direction, yearly budget and helps maintain appropriate staffing levels. Attends meetings as requested. Participates in after hours and weekend call rotation. Provides inpatient and outpatient services in the hospital and clinic setting
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:
High School Graduate, BCLS required, and must hold active ultrasound registry credentials. Graduation from an accredited school of Cardiovascular Sciences/Diagnostic Medical Sonography with special emphasis in cardiac sonography preferred. If hired as “Registry Eligible” must obtain registry certification within two years of employment. EXPERIENCE: Minimum one (1) year cardiac experience preferred. Maintain documentation of ten (10) ceu’s yearly specific to ultrasound. Clinical training and experience should include adult and pediatric transthoracic, adult stress and transesophageal echocardiography. SKILLS: Excellent communication and organizational skills. Must be self-motivated to assure workload completion
