Role Description The Senior Internal Auditor is a full-time, on-site position based in Memphis, TN, responsible for planning, executing, and reporting on internal audit engagements across Baptist Memorial Health Care. This role conducts risk-based financial, operational, and compliance audits to evaluate internal controls, identify process improvements, and support organizational objectives. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing audit programs, performing detailed testing and analysis, documenting workpapers, and preparing clear, well-supported audit reports and recommendations. The Senior Internal Auditor collaborates with leadership and departmental stakeholders to communicate findings, monitor remediation efforts, and provide guidance on best practices in internal controls and risk management. The role may also support special projects, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Internal Audit function.
Qualifications
- Strong financial and accounting foundation, including experience with Finance and Financial Audits, ideally within health care or a complex multi-entity environment.
- Advanced Analytical Skills, including the ability to interpret financial data, assess risk, and draw evidence-based conclusions.
- Proficiency in preparing, reviewing, and presenting Audit Reports that are accurate, concise, and actionable.
- Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and explain complex audit issues in clear, practical terms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA) preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in internal auditing, public accounting, or assurance roles with a strong understanding of internal controls and risk management frameworks.
- Proficiency with audit tools, spreadsheets, and data analysis software; experience with ERP or health care information systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound professional judgment.
