Summary
Job Description:
Process Lab Aide - PRN
Responsible for correctly ordering lab tests to be performed and accurately reporting lab results by telephone.
Job Duties:
- Receives specimens, processes specimens, results and charges appropriate tests.
- Understands pertinent LIS functions and performs procedures effectively.
- Performs data entry of patient information, ordering of tests, scheduling tests, etc. in laboratory computer and reviews the Expected List for specimens not received into the laboratory.
- Prints, sorts and distributes lab reports; answers telephone and relays messages.
- Notifies phlebotomists of orders to be collected and communicates test information and results to physicians, nurses and outside clients.
- Transports specimens to the processing area or appropriate lab department.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma/GED
